I have taught all of my children, and quite a few others how to play the piano. We play games, and use apps to learn the notes, but by far, the most effective way to grasp those notes is to break out the flash cards.

So, off to amazon, ebay, or your local music shop to order a whole new set for each kid, right?! I have real kids. We lose stuff. All the time. Plus there are twice as many cards as you really need, or would ever use in those packs. I needed some printable music note flashcards that I could use repeatedly.

So, last year, I sat down and made my own printable music note flashcards. All you have to do is print them out, cut them, and write the note name on the back.

(Yes, I know there must be a way to print on both sides. My husband could probably figure it out. But life is short, and getting the letter in the right place is beyond my music brain expertise.)

And, then I paper clipped the ones we already know to our lesson book. (Maybe these won’t get lost, at least for a while!) The rest are in the bench with a rubber band holding them together. We will pull them out one at a time during our lessons.

This might be a random question, but what method books do you use?
